How do I login in to my 2U account?
To login in you need to go to http://users.2u.co.uk/. You will find a link to this on most 2U pages, bottom right hand corner, called "Members Login".
You then enter your username (2U sub-domain) and your password (the one you entered when you joined). If you have forgotten your password, click here, then click the "I have forgotten my password" link. Then enter your username (your 2U subdomain name). Your password will be emailed to the email address you signed up with.
How much is the monthly administration fee for running my 2U account?
Because the 2U site is free for you to join, and because we cover all of the set-up costs (which have been very large), and because there are ongoing costs involved in taking the orders and handling the finance, we do charge a small administration fee. This is only £5 per month, which is small change given that you have a free eCommerce site!
This small fee is ONLY EVER taken from your already-earned commission, NOT billed to you. This means that you only pay an admin fee when we have done some admin for you! The fee simply comes off your commission before it is paid to you.
e.g.
- If your commission is only £2, this is all that is paid towards the admin fee. You are NOT expected to pay the £3 difference to make up the full £5 Admin Fee.
- If your commission is £7.50, you would be paid £2.50 after deduction of the £5 admin fee.
- If you earn over £50 commission we waive the admin fee for you.
If you do sell something, this is the only amount you pay (unless you purchase other services)
The products are not sent to you, so there is no admin for you to do on this (only your own tax papers etc)
Does the legal agreement / Terms & Conditions bind me to any other responsibilities?
None whatsoever! You are not bound to sell X amount, to buy X amount of product yourself or to do anything else. The only singular stipulation that we believe in, is that you promote your 2U business in a legal, responsible and ethical manner.
If we discover that you are promoting unethically or receive any/many complaints about your promotion, we will investigate. So, make sure you promote your site ethically, legally and responsibly, and you will have no problems. You are free to grow your 2U business as you wish.
Where can I find the full Terms & Conditions?
You will find the Terms & Conditions by clicking here
Under what circumstances can 2U Headquarters remove me as an affiliate?
Basically, if you do something that is clearly unethical, irresponsible or illegal with the promotion of your site, or that would damage the name of 2U, we will obviously have to remove you from the program.
Can I have more than one 2U site and account?
You are only supposed to have one 2U account, but in certain situations we can allow additional sites and accounts. If you have two different 2U accounts, you will pay the £5 admin charge on both accounts. If you only used one account and sent all the traffic to one 2U site, you would only pay the £5 admin fee once.
The only real situation that is worth having 2 accounts, is when you have 2 different brands that you want to keep separate, or you want to track the sales from 2 different marketing campaigns so you can compare their success. Otherwise it is more cost effective to simply use one.
What are the tax implications of earning from 2U?
We are not qualified to give tax advice, so the following is not tax advice but general pointers. Seek proper tax advice from an accountant or from your local tax office Inland Revenue (usually free).
Any income you earn adds to your overall total income, including your 2U commissions. This overall total income, net of any deductible amounts would then be part of your tax liability.
Keep all receipts of all costs incurred as these may be tax deductible. You may be able to claim light and heat for one room in your house, and expenses on computers and anything you use to run your business, travel for business etc. Again, ask your local tax office for an exhaustive list of what can be claimed as tax deductible. From experience, and on the whole, people at the tax office are not the monsters they are often painted out to be.
The invoice notification emails you get sent contains the details of the details of the invoice you send to us. You will need your own copy of this invoice.
You get a free copy of Microsoft Money or QuickBooks accounting software.
Once you have kept all receipts etc, at the end of the year you can get an accountant to go over your books to make sure that it is all OK and that all receipts are properly tax deductible.
Again, the above is not tax advice, simply general pointers. In general, go to your local tax office and pick up all the relevant leaflets.
Good luck - it is not as scary as it seems at first.
