Be aware of this ...
Which is easier for you as a customer;
1. You receive an email or see an online advert that you like and click the link to go straight to the order page.
2. You receive a leaflet and like it. You go to you computer, turn it on, and type in the web address, and navigate through to order.
The first is obviously easier because you are already in front of your computer. Easier means more sales. This is 'media continuity' being used successfully - from the media of online advertising to online buying.
The second situation is more difficult because it needs a media cross-over - from offline marketing (leaflet) to online buying. Anything that has a media cross-over puts a barrier between the customer and buying.
A key point to remember with offline marketing for an online buy is this - you are going to have to work harder to really make them want your products enough to make them overcome the effort of getting to their computer to order.
Offline Ordering
One way around the barrier of this media cross-over is to take the orders through the same media as you are marketing in - if you are marketing offline, take the order offline.
Postal Orders
If it is a leaflet the customer is holding, let them fill in a form and return their order to YOU. We cannot take postal orders at 2U, because we minimse our costs so we can maximise your commission.
However, YOU can receive the postal orders and simply enter the order details from the postal form into your 2U website. You simply navigate through your 2U site ordering as the customer would. This sale will then be tracked through the normal sales tracking and will show in your real-time stats.
Telephone Orders
A good additional option to postal ordering is Telephone ordering. You can take the orders by telephone, and enter the order details directly into your 2U website, or take their details on paper, then enter the details later through your 2U website in order to complete the sale and have your sale and its commission tracked.
At 2U we cannot take telephone orders as it is impossible to track your affiliate sales effectively - how would we know that it was your marketing the call came from?
Instead, you can put your telephone number on the marketing, and have the customer call you. In order to do this properly and professionally you should have the Call Navigator telephone number and virtual switchboard. This will enable you to handle your incoming order calls effectively and efficiently.
Call Navigator will tell you where the call is coming from, and what the customer is calling about. For instance, before you speak to the customer, it would tell you that "you have a call waiting for leaflet customer bluetooth products" - you would then know that this customer wants a Bluetooth product and is coming to you as a result of your leaflet marketing.
